600 and 1200 mechanical Slurry Separators utilise the National Institute of Agricultural Engineering basic design of roller press principle to remove solids from effluents and slurries to enable the liquid fraction to be easily stored, managed, distributed, treated or re-cycled.
A typical application for 600 and 1200 slurry separators would be for the removal of solids from dairy and pig farm slurries, vegetable processing of slaughterhouse wastes where higher dry matter solids output is required.
A simple perforated two stage stainless steel screen is used to pass effluent over and the majority of the liquid is removed in the first stage and compressed by rubber rollers to extract further liquid. The fibrous solids are then brushed over the outlet chute for subsequent composting by spontaneous combustion. If the solids fraction of the effluent can be compressed in this manner, dry matter content of in the region of 18-22% can be expected, depending upon consistency and homogenisation of raw effluent.
The composted solids constitute an easily managed commodity and depending upon their composition may be of marketable value as humus mulch for horticulturists and garden centres. The more stable consistent liquid fraction can be distributed onto farm land via irrigators or further processed to reduce B.O.D., or re-cycled.
Outputs vary considerably with the material being separated and the consistency in which it is presented to the separator. A typical farm slurry throughput would be in the region of 4-5000 gallons per hour (8-10000 gallons per hour for the 1200) and process line wastes 10-12000 gallons per hour (20-24000 gallons per hour for the 1200).
A submersible pump is usually recommended to supply the raw waste or slurry to the separator and a constant flow of material is presented to the screen by virtue of a weir or paddle at the inlet. To provide sufficient headroom for solids collection and liquid storage it is recommended to install the Slurry Separator in an elevated position. A galvanised platform and support legs is available for this purpose if required. For effluents where there is a risk of coagulation, e.g fats, spray nozzles are available to clean screens and brushes.
All vulnerable steel parts are either hot dip galvanised or shot blasted and epoxy painted to protect against corrosion. Powered by very small electric motors and with brushes revolving at only 30 RPM, maintenance costs are negligible.
The Autoscreen is a simple, inexpensive Mechanical Slurry Separator suitable for removing large particles of solids from effluent to enable the liquid fraction to be more easily stored, managed, distributed, treated or re-cycled.
A typical application for the Autoscreen would be for the removal of solids from dairy and pig farm slurries, vegetable processing or slaughterhouse wastes, where high dry matter solids are not required.
A simple perforated stainless steel screen is used to pass the effluent over and a slowly rotating nylon brush removes the solids which do not pass through the screen. Outputs of upto 54m/hr (12,000 gallons/hr) can be achieved and solids removed are in the region of 9% dry matter (cow slurry) depending upon material being separated.
A submersible pump is usually recommended to supply the raw effluent to the Autoscreen and a constant flow of material is presented to the screen by virtue of a weir at the inlet. To provide sufficient headroom for solids collection and liquid storage it is recommended to install the Autoscreen in an elevated position. A platform extension is available for this purpose if required. For effluents where there is a risk of coagulation e.g fats, spray nozzles are available to clean screens and brushes.
The Autoscreen is available as a basic model complete with support structure or with a feed pump and fully integrated control panel for automatic operation.
The Autoscreen stand is hot dip galvanised with stainless steel screens and GRP removable guards. Powered by a 0.25 Kw motor and with brushes revolving at only 13 RPM, maintenance and running costs are negligible.
